New York City Mayor-elect Zohran Mamdani has unveiled the members of his Inaugural Committee as preparations continue for his official swearing-in celebration on January 1.
The committee brings together a broad mix of cultural figures, activists, and campaign organizers who have been involved in shaping the inaugural festivities. Among those participating are popular children’s educator and YouTuber Ms. Rachel, actor and longtime advocate Cynthia Nixon, and senior field leaders from Mamdani’s mayoral campaign. Committee members will help guide the planning of the event and serve as co-hosts during the inauguration.
Mamdani said the group reflects the city’s creativity and diversity, noting that their involvement will help ensure the celebration represents New Yorkers from all backgrounds.
Earlier announcements from the mayor-elect’s transition team confirmed that Mamdani will take the oath of office administered jointly by New York Attorney General Letitia James and U.S. Senator Bernie Sanders.
The inauguration will take the form of a public block party, open to all at no cost. Attendance, however, will be capped due to space limitations, and advance registration is required through the transition website.
